Find Your Place: You Are Meant to Impact the World

By Layo Obidike

There’s a time and place for noise, but sometimes, God is not in the noise. We see this in the story of Elijah when he was about to be taken up to heaven—a moment in history like no other. Only Elisha was allowed to witness it. Despite the presence of many prophets nearby, this incredible event was not broadcast live. It wasn’t meant to be a spectacle; it was meant to be a quiet, personal encounter between God and His servant. The noise of the world didn’t have a place at this moment.

Similarly, when Jesus was preparing to ascend into heaven, there were only a handful of witnesses. He didn’t ascend in a blaze of glory, with chariots of fire or a whirlwind. Instead, in simple, quiet majesty, He rose up before the eyes of just 11 disciples at the Mount of Olives. No crowds, no fanfare. Just the quiet unfolding of something world-changing.

This got me thinking about what Paul meant when he said that we would do things “that eyes have never seen.” Is it about the loud moments and pulling the crowds? Yes, sometimes, public acts can help advance the kingdom. But more often, it’s about making an impact in quieter, smaller moments—like the slave girl who spoke out to Naaman about an opportunity to be whole through God’s prophet, or Joseph of Arimathea, who took a stand at just the right time and buried Jesus in his own tomb.

What about you? What will you do that eyes have never seen?

There are lives all around you that can be impacted in profound ways. A few years ago, a man who didn’t yet know he’d be a founder of a ministry—Adekoya Samuel—was simply a man named Sir Kay, mentoring a young teen. He didn’t know how far-reaching that mentorship would go, but his quiet actions played a pivotal role in someone else’s future. That’s the power of a quiet, intentional life.

You don’t always have to be at the center of attention to make a difference. Every day presents opportunities to speak into the lives of those around you—through a word of encouragement, a kind gesture, or a small action that can change someone’s trajectory. You might not see the impact immediately, but rest assured, the seeds you plant today will bear fruit in the future.

It’s easy to think that big, flashy acts are what matter most in the kingdom of God. After all, those are the things that often make headlines, garner attention, and seem to shift the course of history. But God is in the small, quiet acts too. He’s in the everyday moments when you choose to live out your faith with sincerity, humility, and love.

The truth is, many of the most impactful moments in life happen when no one is watching. They happen in the quiet places of your heart. They happen when you choose to remain faithful in the midst of uncertainty, when you stand up for what’s right, or when you encourage someone who’s struggling. These moments, though unseen, are shaping the world in ways we can’t always measure.

Think of the woman who poured perfume on Jesus’ feet—a seemingly small, private act, but one that Jesus honored publicly as a powerful expression of love and devotion. Think of the boy who offered his loaves and fish—his small offering became the catalyst for a miracle that fed thousands. In the kingdom of God, no act of service is too small. Every step you take in faith, no matter how quiet or unseen, is building something eternal.

So, what’s your role? What will you do that eyes have never seen?

Find your place. It might not be in the spotlight. It might not be on a stage or in front of a crowd. But it will be significant. It will matter. God has called you to a purpose, and you can make an impact, no matter how small or quiet the moment might seem.

Your place is not determined by the noise around you but by the voice of God calling you to serve, love, and impact the world. Find that place and be faithful in it. Whether big or small, loud or quiet, your impact matters.

You don’t need to wait for a grand moment. You can begin today by choosing to serve in whatever capacity you can, trusting that every act, no matter how small, is part of a much bigger plan.

There’s room for you to make a difference. It doesn’t always need to be in front of a crowd. Sometimes, the most powerful impact is made in the quiet, unseen moments. You have a purpose. Find it, and step into it today.
